See and touch World War Two history at the Guildhall
Military historian Paul Hunt, an active member of the Royal British Legion, is returning to the Guildhall after his hugely successful talk in October 2024 to showcase some of his unique and rare collection of genuine World War Two artefacts. Paul will give a fascinating and interactive presentation, inviting the audience to examine the items and ask questions. His talk will delve into the covert operations that shaped WWII, providing a unique look into secret organisations such as the Special Operations Executive (S.O.E), which, during WWII, carried out espionage, sabotage, and reconnaissance missions alongside local resistance groups. Learn about the Special Air Service (S.A.S), formed in 1941 by Col. David Stirling, whose daring hit-and-run tactics in North Africa and Europe disrupted German operations and rescued Allied prisoners. See authentic artefacts, including the Mk 2 radio transmitter-receiver, explosive devices, and booby traps. Rarely seen S.A.S weapons, uniforms, and signed items will also be on display. Our World War Two RAF Operations Room will also be open for you to explore on the day between 10am to 4pm. Admission to the Ops Room is free. Times: 11am to 12pm Tickets: £10 Booking: Essential - use the 'Book now' button or call 01284 758000 Venue: Bury St Edmunds Guildhall This event is promoted by Bury St Edmunds Guildhall
