Alan Johnson makes a welcome return to Lavenham Literary Festival with TWO newly published books, his latest Detective Constable Louise Managan murder mystery Death on the Thames, and in complete contrast a political biography Harold Wilson 20th Century Man.

Politician turned best-selling author, Alan Johnson was a Labour MP for 20 years, serving in five cabinet positions. His childhood memoir This Boy was published in 2013 and won the Ondatji Prize and the Orwell Prize, Britain’s top political writing award.

Death on the Thames is Alan’s third detective mystery thriller.

Harold Wilson 20th Century Man is a unique look at the life of a prime minister by the man who could have been prime minster.

Lesley Dolphin presented her popular afternoon show on BBC Radio Suffolk for twenty years.
