Nominated for the 2017 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards' Horizon Award, Fara brings together four young Orcadian musicians at the forefront of today’s Scottish folk scene.
Jennifer Austin, Kristan Harvey, Jeana Leslie and Catriona Price’s three fiddles and piano produce a fiery sound, rooted strongly in their upbringing amongst the traditional music of Orkney. Following their debut release 'Cross the Line' in 2016, the Orcadian folk quartet are touring the UK with material from their second album, 'Times from Times Fall'. Comprised entirely of self-penned songs and instrumental tracks, Fara will celebrate the community which inspired them to become musicians - an album rooted in the spirit of the Orkney Isles and its people, it combines the unique Orkney fiddle tradition with contemporary and original songs and tunes. "I doubt if there’s another band that produce such complex and engaging fiddle music, along with equally complex and engaging song... Fara have all the ingredients for a perfect album, and 'Times from Times Fall' is the proof" - Folk Radio UK.
