Online Talk: The Salem Witch Trials

Join Bury St Edmunds and Beyond for a fascinating online talk on The Salem witch trials, featuring speakers from the Salem Witch Museum.

The evening will begin with an introduction from Dan Clarke, Heritage Officer at Moyse’s Hall Museum, who will briefly outline the remarkable historical connection between Bury St Edmunds and Salem.

This connection dates back to the 1662 Bury St Edmunds witch trial of Amy Denny and Rose Cullender. An account of their trial was published in 1682 and was later consulted in Salem during the 1692 witch trials. It is this fascinating link between our two towns that has helped bring together Moyse’s Hall Museum and the Salem Witch Museum for this special online event.

Following Dan's introduction, Rachel Christ-Doane, Director of Education at the Salem Witch Museum, and Jill Christiansen, Assistant Director of Education at the Salem Witch Museum, will give an in-depth talk on the Salem witch trials themselves.

Discover the people, events and historical circumstances surrounding the infamous trials of 1692–93, presented by two experts from the Salem Witch Museum.

There will also be time for a Q&A, giving you the opportunity to put your questions to Rachel and Jill.
