Esther Freud is one of Britain’s most admired contemporary novelists, celebrated for her elegant prose, emotional subtlety and perceptive exploration of family relationships. Since the publication of Hideous Kinky, she has built a distinguished body of work that blends autobiographical insight with richly imagined fiction. Her latest novel, My Sister and Other Lovers, revisits the world of her debut, following sisters Lucy and Bea through adolescence and adulthood as they navigate love, loss, addiction and enduring family bonds. Tender, evocative and deeply humane, the novel confirms Freud’s gift for capturing the complexities of memory, sisterhood and identity with quiet emotional power.
