A tumultuous period in British politics propelled Harry Bucknall to try to understand our island nation. He decided to undertake a pilgrimage and embarked on a series of journeys across Britain totalling a distance of over 6,518 miles.
In this refreshing and upbeat overview of Britain today Harry delights in amongst other things, the peace of Mull, sweet toothed Hindus in Leicester and mushy peas and pie in Halifax.
Harry travelled the land, visiting cities, towns and vast swathes of the countryside from Iona to Sunderland and Belfast, Aberystwyth to Aldeburgh, meeting a host of diverse and charismatic characters along the way.
Harry Buckland spent 12 years in the Coldstream Guards. He was always captivated by adventure and has written of his travels in In the Dolphin’s Wake and Like a Tramp, Like a Pilgrim. He has produced theatre for the London Fringe and sat on the Olivier Awards Panel.
