Set in the heart of historic Bury St Edmunds, The Athenaeum is an iconic Grade I listed building, well known for its beautiful Georgian chandeliered ballroom.

Located right in the middle of the busy market town on Angel Hill, the venue hosts a variety of events throughout the year. A selection of bespoke rooms are available to hire for conferences, meetings, weddings, parties, private dining and special occasions.

Fully licensed for weddings and ceremonies, the traditional charm of the ornate Ballroom provides the perfect backdrop for a stunning wedding from 60 to 180 guests. Alternatively, the first floor lounge and reading room are perfect settings for smaller, more intimate receptions.

Five versatile spaces are available individually, or the whole venue can be hired exclusively for corporate events and other occasions. Whether your event is a board meeting for 10 or a large scale conference for 250, you cannot help but be inspired by The Athenaeum’s grandeur.
