The award-winning Abbey Gardens have something for everyone, discover the abbey ruins, enjoy the beautifully designed floral displays, have a game of tennis, or let the kids loose in the play area.
To help plan your visit to the Abbey Gardens:
The Abbey Gardens can be found in the very heart of beautiful Bury St Edmunds, next to St Edmundsbury Cathedral at the bottom of Abbeygate Street.
There is short stay parking across from Abbey Gardens on Angel Hill, but spaces are limited and the car park can often be full at peak times. More information on Angel Hill car park.
You will also find a large car park at Ram Meadow which has 825 spaces and costs £2.50 for up to 3 hours, or all day for £3. This car park is a 2 minute walk from the Abbey Gardens. More information on Ram Meadow car park.
The Abbey Gardens Shop sells souvenirs, gardening gifts, and plants grown from cuttings of plants grown right here in the award-winning Abbey Gardens! Please note that unfortunately, the Abbey Gardens Shop is closed, from November 2022, until further notice.
Monday to Friday: 7.30am-5pm
Sunday: 9am-5pm
Closing times for the Abbey Gardens vary depending on daylight hours, they are seasonal and exact changeover dates may change. As a guide, gate closing times are roughly as follows: November to February 4.30pm, March to May and October 6pm, and 7.30pm to 8pm from June to September.
