Monthly jazz event at the Athenaeum

ollowing audience feedback, The Apex’s Songbook Sundays have a new home for 2017 - this popular series of Sunday jazz events will now take place in the regal setting of The Athenaeum’s ballroom. Songbook Sundays will continue to feature the Chris Ingham Trio, alongside special guest singers from the world of jazz.
 
Click here to see the brunch buffet menu. VIP Tickets for Songbook Sundays are £19.50 (and include a reserved table & unlimited choice from the brunch buffet menu). Standard Tickets are £10 in advance / £12 on the door (if available) - and don't include brunch or a reserved table, though both are available on the day subject to availability.

Songbook Sundays run from 11.30am-1.30pm on occasional Sundays - see below for details...

This month's special guest is - Anita Wardell
Winner of 'Best Vocalist' at the UK Jazz Awards on numerous occasions, Anita is among the most respected and acclaimed jazz singers on the British scene, a sensitive interpreter of standards and jazz classics and an outstanding improviser.

This month's special guest is - Gill Manly: Celebrating Nina Simone
Mentored and admired by the legendary Mark Murphy, Gill specialises in colourful and characterful songbook interpretations and is unique on today’s jazz and vocal scene. Here she will visit the repertoire of High Priestess of Soul, Nina Simone.

This month's special guest - Emily Saunders
Rated as “absolutely brilliant” by BBC Radio 2’s Jamie Cullum, and “the next big thing” by the London Evening Standard, London-based vocalist, songwriter, composer and producer, Emily Saunders, has carved her own sun-drenched niche that takes in jazz, pop and soul.

Fabulous trumpeter/singer, Sue Richardson, has been wowing UK audiences with this delightful show. A sell-out at Ronnie Scott's, Sue guides us through the beauties and the beasts from Hollywood’s glamorous heyday and the popular songs which helped make them famous..

This month's special guest - Steve Pert: A Swingin' Affair
Formerly of the internationally renowned vocal group Wall Street Crash, Steve is of the UK’s leading swing singers, and has performed with the BBC Big Band and Ronnie Scott’s Big Band. Expect charismatic interpretations of the Sinatra, Bennett and Bublé repertoire.
